---|---|
Helicon Forum is an assistance tool for organizing the team-work on the projects between all their participants. | |
1. | What is Forum? It is a list of messages devoted to a certain
topic. The access to the Forum is given to many users having different
rights. One user can have access to several forums. |
2. | What is thread? It is a group of messages in the tree-form. The
properties of the first message determine who has the rights to view all the messages below. |
3. | What is message? It is a text with a brief heading and attachments. A message can be added to other messages to build a tree of messages. |
4. | Which user groups are there in the Forum? For each forum, the
administrator can define its own user groups, for example: Project
Manager, Group Leader, Developer, Guest. |
5. | Does the user belong to one group only? Generally, only to one
group. However, the administrator can set the rights so that the user can enter several groups. |
6. | How to make a new thread visible only for certain groups? While
creating a new message you should check at the bottom of the form under the line "Message is visible to:" … only those user groups who are allowed to see your message. |
7. | Can the thread be visible only for one specified user? Yes, it
can. To do it, you should unselect all the groups and at the bottom on the
left of the form select the necessary user from the user list. Such message will be available only for this very user and the members of the first group of the Forum. |
8. | Which rights does the administrator of the forum have? The
administrator can create and delete forums, add and delete users, change their belonging to a certain group. |
9. | Do all the groups have equal rights? No. The users of the first
group of the Forum (usually called Project Manager) have access to all the messages, they can change and delete them. The other groups have equal rights. |
10. | What does the message type mean? By selecting the type of message, you choose the icon to be shown in the message tree. |
11. | What is the field "Reg visit:" for? This field should be
checked if you want to be sure that other users have really read it. If
you check this field, the user will receive an email, containing not message text but a requirement to visit the Forum and read this message. The visit time will be registered. |
12. | What is the field "Confirmation" for? If this field is
checked, other users can confirm their awareness of the message content or
agree with the matter. The confirmation time is registered. |
13. | What is the field "Convert HTML" for? If the message
body contains HTML-code, this field should be checked for the content not
to be distorted by the output. |
14. | What are the notifications? The program automatically sends via
email and/or to cellular phones via SMS notifications about new messages in the Forum. While creating a message you can specify who should receive such notifications. |
