Backing up the System |
A few tips: Redundant power supply - The iDR10 MixRack can be loaded with two PSU modules. The iDR0 DSP rack and the standard iLive Surfaces can connect to the rack mounted iPS10 external backup PSU. With both PSUs powered one automatically takes over if the other loses power. Redundant connection - There are many third party solutions available today to provide redundant connection between units. If you are using an iLive with newer Remote Audio 2 (RAB2) modules fitted you can fit ACE or MADI as the Port A Surface to MixRack link. Both of these can provide redundant cable connection too. If you are touring it is worth carrying a spare cable as a back up. Back up your Show files - Archive important Show files on your iLive system and transfer them to USB key or computer for back up. Carry a spare USB key. Remember that old version Shows can load on systems with newer firmware, but new version Shows will not load on older firmware. Back up your settings using Scene memories - Make regular Scene backups using the Store All function. Also do this before you change the Stereo Channel or Mix Bus architecture as this resets the DSP parameters. Laptop backup - Keep your iLive and laptop updated with the latest version of system firmware and Editor software. Also download the iLive Reference Guide and other useful documentation so that it is available when you do not have internet access. Using Editor on your laptop - Running Editor gives you another 'control surface' and a backup for the physical Surface. It is worth having earlier versions of Editor available in case you work with other systems which are not up to date. Carry the latest firmware with you - Carry the latest version of iLive firmware and the setup file for Editor on your laptop or USB key. It may be useful to update the firmware on other systems you use but do so only with the full permission of the owner. 'Rescue' file - An application file called 'DL5000SystemManager' is packaged with the firmware download. This is a version of the java file which runs the TouchScreen. Keep this file on your laptop. It can be run to provide a TouchScreen display emulation if the onboard screen computer fails to boot. Although the Surface continues to operate as normal in this case, the laptop can provide access to the setup, FX and other functions available only from the screen. Network settings reset - A recessed switch is provided near the NETWORK ports in case you need to reset the network IP address to factory default. This may be the case if part of the system has been given an incompatible address when used previously. Hard system reset - Internal jumpers are provided on the iLive CPU module and T Series for resetting certain parameters to factory default. It should not be necessary to use these. They are there in case system parameters or memories become corrupt. If needed refer to Allen & Heath Tech Support for further details. Tools - If you are working with the modular iLive system then carry a T10 Torx (star head) screwdriver and the module puller shipped with the iLive. These are useful if you need to swap audio modules around or access the reset jumpers in the CPU modules. Reporting problems - Allen & Heath provide world wide 24 hour technical support for the iLive system. If it is necessary to report a problem refer to the Allen & Heath web site for advice and contact details. It is helpful to email the Show file and Event Logs to us for analysis when the solution is not immediately known. The Event Logs can be transferred from the iLive using your USB key.
